Naogaon Sadar Upazila covers an area of 265.63 sq km and has a total population of 4,05,148, males 2,04,505, females 2,00,743 (according to 2011 census and population density is 1459 sq km). Population growth rate 1.32% Literacy rate 53.5% Naogaon Sadar Upazila The total population is Muslim, the rest are Hindus, Buddhists and followers of other religions.

This upazila, one of the most important in the northern region, has a rich tradition. Ancient Dubalhati Rajbari, Balihar Rajbari is located in this upazila. Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy of Naogaon Sadar Upazila. This upazila is a surplus upazila in food production. It produces 30,000,000 MT more than required.

The location, communication, folklore, socio-economic status and political sympathy of Naogaon Sadar Upazila have made Naogaon Sadar Upazila one of the most important places in the region. Apart from government activities, non-governmental organizations and various private enterprises are equally active in the ongoing development of this upazila. Naogaon Sadar Upazila will become one of the most important places in North Bengal in the near future through the joint efforts of all and continuous improvement of education.
